New Beginnings, New Vibes

The intention is for you to leave class in peace and come back to elevate your consciousness with your favorite Yogi. There was nothing but love in the New Beginnings New Vibes Yoga class and during the class, we all learned a little something about each other, what we’re capable of, and that we kick ass when it comes to facing challenges. I mean, I guess those are just the type of students we attract over here at healing motions. As an instructor, I love to see my students challenge themselves in the practice of yoga. It makes my heart extremely happy, if I do say so myself.

I'm Carla Coley, RYT 200 HR Yoga instructor, who hosted this class. Before hosting the class, I knew the room wasn’t going to be packed and I was cool with that because I had the perfect crowd. The class was hosted by me, in a local Ft. Lauderdale dance studio filled with colors popping, big speakers, a flat screen TV for my zoom friends, who wanted to attend that class online because they’re out of state, and more space than a yoga teacher could possibly ask for when hosting a class. The vibe was zen and chill, and the playlist was bangin! It gave acoustic neo soul instrumental vibes; that’s the best way I can describe it, but we really flowed and vibed, and meditated and it was the most amazing experience to be able to teach warriors and I’m so honored.

The theme of this class- New Beginnings, New Vibes, and in class, we reached our hands up to center and towards the sky often because in our classes, we’re always going to reach to the highest of heights to attain what we desire, straight up. Some of the asanas that we practiced in this class were: easy pose, seated forward fold, Mountain Pose downward dog, upward facing dog, Warrior I, and Warrior II to name a few(the list is lengthy. I called myself following my lesson plan and I did, but I ended up adding a little extra to it as we went along; worked out pretty well). Be mindful that if you are new to yoga, or rusty, then your poses may not look the way you think they should look. What’s most important is your form, posture, and transitioning safely between each asana smoothly. As you continue to practice your form, you’ll see improvements and changes in your body, range of motion, flexibility.

Throughout our movement and transitions, breath was vital to the practice. Before transitioning in and out of poses, we inhale through our nose and exhale through our mouth. I always say this: breath is important to not only your movement in yoga and during mediation because the breath is what guides you. Here's a tip, any movement we do where we open the body up we inhale; movement where we’re closing our body, we exhale. For example, let’s say you’re seated on your mat with your legs out in front of you, spine straight, and your head is held high, this is considered an open body- inhale here. When you hinge your hips forward over your thighs, as you bring your arms down to your ankle shins, or toes, this is considered to be a closed body- and you exhale here. My intention for all of my students is to learn to practice of yoga, how it’s beneficial to your daily lifestyle, and learn about yourself.Yoga is also used as a form of self care, so check out the healing motions facebook page for suggestions on what stretches, breaths, or asanas to practice.

The vibes were on point, everyone put in their maximum effort, and felt great after the practice. If you didn’t make this event and you live in the palm beach, broward, or miami dade area, be sure to come out and check out the next class hosted by me in the Ft Lauderdale studio on December 10th at 1:30pm est.
